Windows 8 Analysis – Is the New Ribbon Interface More Efficient?

What? They forgot about Windows 7…
The ribbons in Paint and WordPad were introduced in Windows 7, not Windows 8, and 7′s Explorer is better than XP’s, too, even without a ribbon, so this “analysis” is pretty much pointless. One might argue that Explorer in Windows 7 is better than in Windows 8.
Personally, I think the ribbon in Windows 8′s Explorer is handy, but takes up too much screen real estate considering how small the typical Explorer window is.
well I for one do not care that it is “More Efficient”
I care more how explorer looks and feels, and how easy it is to browse for my files/folders.
oh also they go by steps…
you can’t totally go by number of steps because guess what, if it takes me a whole minute to find one button in the Ribbon, and 20 sec to find a button in MS word 2003 type view, then I’ve just lost more time finding buttons to take less steps.
JUST an example…
