Sometimes the MBR (Master Boot Record) in Windows can become corrupt and cause scary errors like “Operating System not Found”. Luckily, it’s usually an easy fix since you just have to re-write over the corrupted MBR. Check out the post below for steps in Windows 7.

Why do virtually all help articles dealing with repairing or reinstalling the Windows 7 operating system begin so blithely with the following: “First, insert your Windows 7 DVD into your DVD drive . . .” What if my PC didn’t come with a Windows 7 DVD? What if it didn’t come with a DVD drive? Why don’t they ever address that little conundrum?
MBR fix. I just bought a new HP desktop. However, no disks came with it.
We had to make our own disks to reboot if we had a problem.
What do i do if I have this problem. The computer lis running 7.
Thank you.
In the case of no system disks from mfgr, use the recovery disk you made when system was new. Connect your external hard drive and go from there. You do have an external back up, don’t you?

This is also built in. Press F8 right before Win7 splash screen pops up until you see a menu and click “Repair”.
