WinUtilities has a great collection of tools to keep your system running smoothly. The Pro version is offered as a free giveaway by Softpedia. Watch for the Ask Toolbar addition during installation. **The PRO version is NO LONGER offered free, only as a 31 day evaluation

Softpedia shows as a untrusted site in WOT!
Thanks for the warning about the Ask Toolbar. That thing is a pain.
1) NOT free. Only a 31evaluation period listed after installed.
Is there a “free registration key” we need to look for that wasn’t mentioned by the normally scrupulous Tiny Hacker? Evaluation period and free are not the same.
2) NO way to AVOID Ask Toolbar install or any other gremlin lurking within. I was never offered a box to uncheck. How do I get rid of it now?
3) My WOT via Chrome green-lights Softpedia itself. Some of its links are not. Almost all sites have some questionable links. The most common I’ve seen lately offers you Netflicks but then downloads malware, You have to distinguish and decide before you click on anything.
4) If you still are enticed, avoid the 3rd download site. Choose only the first 2 mirrors. But if I knew then what I know now, I would have avoided the whole thing.
The PRO version had been offered free (we still have it), with an easy to uncheck Ask Toolbar option. Our original post has been amended.
