AVG is famous for its free antivirus. However, it offers also commercial security solutions, such as AVG Internet Security 2012. Read this review to learn more about its effectiveness in securing your system.
Security for Everyone – Reviewing AVG Internet Security 2012

I used it for years, but found it to be slightly intrusive, and a bit bulky. Once I switched to Security Essentials, I never looked back.
AVG is possibly the worst antivirus i’ve ever used. I would have been better off using nothing when I tried it, at least my computer would have ran while it got infected. I don’t see the attraction people have to it, unless they just don’t know any better.
I’ve been using AVG Internet Security for the past year, before which I used the “free” AVG, and it has so far afforded me good protection.
I “tested” it on a number of occasioins by deliberately accessing pirate sites and downloading a “suspect” offering. Each time I was warned about the inadvisability of such an action.
With one download I was immediately warned of the presence of malware and offered the opportunity of either deleting or quarantining it. Whichever action was taken – the executable was rendered as no longer executable, regardless.
I don’t only rely on my copy of AVG – I also do a regular full backup of my system drive and my working drive – to an external drive, on a weekly basis, which is just as well.
ONCE a ‘nasty’ did penetrate the defences and created a problem. I merely rolled back the three day old backup, and once again had a healthy, clean PC.
So what if the security program does slow things down a tad? – I would rather have that than a ruined system, and lost (or even stolen) data to have to contend with.
I wouldn’t say that nt0xik8ed “doesn’t know any better” – I would suggest that nt0xik8ed has a “cranium filled with fæces” instead of neuronal tissue. (i.e. – s.f.b. – or perhaps they’ve just been drunk for too long)
It’s been a while since I used AVG, but when I did the email scanner quite all the time and to fix it I had to COMPLETELY uninstall and reinstall. Got tiresome and I went to Avast AND Threatfire and have never looked back.
Also, I don’t think I’ve ever heard anything bad about MSE which I install on some customers machines.
Bottom line is I see NO sense in PAYING for any AV.
