If you’re using Security Essentials and don’t want to wait for Windows Update to check for new virus signatures, right click on your Desktop> create new shortcut> and paste this command:
"%ProgramFiles%\Microsoft Security Essentials\MpCmdRun.exe" –signatureupdate
And then name it whatever you’d like. You can leave it on your Desktop or even drag it to your Quick Launch toolbar and create a custom icon for it.






You could also drag it to the startup folder so it is executed everytime you start your PC.
It doesn’t actually create a short cut for me, it keeps creating a folder. But i want to create a short cut.
Does not work with 2011 version of MSE. Keep getting error that file path cannot be found.
