In case you are the type of geek using Windows Media Player 12 as your default media player and, for whatever reason it stops working, you might want to try Fix WMP Utility. This portable tool re-registers all the important .dll files used by WMP 12, so that it will work again.

I started to download this fix on my computer and I got message that it was potentially harmfull to my computer, suggested not to download.
I had no such problem (Norton) but while it told me it worked, I get the same error message when I try playing a file with WMP.

If your Medica Player 12 doesn’t work, this will not fix it. Microsoft really should provide their customers with a way to RE- download Media player 12. So far they haven’t done so.
